Supplying your own item for laser engraving

Want a name, logo or message added to an item you already own? These details help us assess whether the material, finish, shape and size are suitable for engraving.

Supplying your own item can be a good way to personalise something you have already chosen. Before we quote or engrave it, we need enough information to assess the surface and decide whether the item can be positioned safely and accurately.

Tell us exactly what the item is made from

“Metal”, “glass” or “plastic” can describe many different finishes and coatings. If you know the material, brand or product model, include it with your enquiry. A link to the original product listing or packaging details can also help. Material suitability varies, so we will confirm the proposed approach before accepting the job.

Photograph the item clearly

Send a full view of the item and a close photo of the area you want engraved. Photograph reflective surfaces from an angle that still shows the finish. Include a ruler or provide the item’s width, height and depth so we can understand the available engraving area.

Shape and access matter

Flat pieces are usually easier to position than curved, tapered or assembled objects. Handles, raised edges and nearby fittings can restrict access to the engraving area. Tell us whether the item can be taken apart and mark the preferred position in a photo if placement is important.

Consider a test piece for unfamiliar finishes

Two items that look similar can respond differently because of their coating or manufacturing process. When possible, an identical spare or hidden test area can help confirm the result. We will discuss any uncertainty before work begins, especially when an item is valuable, sentimental or difficult to replace.

Send the design and exact wording

Upload the clearest version of your logo, photo, pattern or reference image. Type names, dates and messages exactly as they should appear. We will review the artwork, placement and item details together before providing the quote and proof.

We count page views and quote clicks to improve this site. No names, email addresses or artwork are included.
